Some people believe that anticipation is the most fun part of an adventure, but after just one day of Session C, I am here to tell you they are wrong! We have been waiting all summer for this session, eagerly anticipating the energy, enthusiasm, love, and spirit your campers would bring to Old Forge. After today, I know that being with them is the VERY BEST PART of this adventure!
When the gates swung open this morning, the staff went wild with cheers of joy to welcome your children home to Highlander. As each camper stepped out of the car at the gym, they were greeted with the warm smiles and hugs of cabin mates and kind counselors, instantly making them feel a part of the Highlander family. The air was filled with excitement as old friends reunited and new friendships began to form.
Opening Day was amazing, and it was packed with fun activities, laughter, and the kind of joy that can only be found at Highlander. From the first splash in the lake to the last song around the campfire, it was clear that this session was going to be something truly special. The campers’ enthusiasm and passion for camp brought an unparalleled energy to our day, ensuring that this session was WORTH THE WAIT.
As I reflect on this incredible day, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for the two and a half weeks ahead. The anticipation was thrilling, but the reality of being together, sharing the magic of camp, and watching our campers thrive is even better than we could have ever imagined. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us! We are honored to be a part of their lives and yours! Here’s to a session full of adventures, growth, and memories that will last a lifetime!
Favorite Details of the Day
- Weather: We had a perfectly beautiful day today! The sun was shining all day and set the perfect backdrop to welcome our campers home to Highlander today! Right after dinner we had the slightest drizzle that brought some cooler air which will be lovely for sleeping tonight. High today was 87 and low is 63 degrees!
- Meals: For lunch we had our Opening Day tradition, grilled cheese, tomato soup, french fries, a salad bar and a sandwich bar with whole fruit. For dinner we had yummy pot roast with carrots and potatoes, delicious rolls and salad bar. After dinner, the disco ball went off letting us know two things were about to happen - either we were dancing in the dining hall or we were having dessert. Tonight, we did both! After doing the Cupid Shuffle, we enjoyed some famous Highlander Mudslide!
- EP: Tonight’s EP was our opening Campfire! This is one of our oldest camp traditions and a great way to kick off the session. We listened to our favorite campfire songs, sang along and danced our hearts out! The energy was incredible! I love your children!
