Saturday Night Fever hit Old Forge Mountain with a disco extravaganza that turned the Gillespie Gymnasium into a vibrant dance floor and hopping casino! As the sun set, campers donned their grooviest outfits, ready to boogie the night away. The energy was electric as everyone gathered in the transformed gym, enjoying a night of dancing, games, food and fun. The music pumped up, and the dance floor came alive with classic hits from the decades and modern favorites. Campers and counselors showcased their best moves, enjoyed their favorite line dances and belted lyrics at the top of their lungs to their favorite songs!
As I watched your children soak up tonight’s EP, I had a camper from Cabin One say to me, “I love the nightlife at camp! I look forward to it from the moment I wake up each morning, and it’s the best way to end an amazing day at camp!” She is so right!! When the sun goes down, the energy kicks up at Camp Highlander and our EP staff deliver the most incredibly thoughtful, creative and entertaining evening programs that make lasting memories in the hearts and minds of our campers! We all love the nightlife at Camp Highlander!
Today was Camper’s Choice day, and every camper planned their perfect day from start to finish. We had some super fun new activities offered on camp today including fishing in Silver Lake, flag football, pickleball, firebuilding, mountain biking on the pump track, pool zumba, Taylor Swift appreciation and more! The best choice your children made today was choosing their attitude when the rain came. They didn’t let the rain slow them down one bit…they embraced it, loved it actually! These campers are literally soaking up all the fun of this session and not wasting a moment! I love your kids so much! They are my sunshine on a cloudy day!
Favorite Details of the Day
- Today was SLEEP IN SATURDAY!!! YAY!!!
- Weather: We had another nice morning on camp today, and scattered showers in the afternoon. The rain stopped just before EP, and we all enjoyed a the cool breeze of the evening!
- Meals: After sleeping in this morning, we all enjoyed hundreds of Dunkin Donuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, grits and a fruit bar. For lunch we had chicken or cheese quesadillas, tortilla chips with salsa, a salad bar and a sandwich bar. Dinner was Mac’s Famous BBQ - we enjoyed pulled pork, pulled chicken, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and vinegar coleslaw and we had our salad bar and sandwich bar too!
- EP: Tonight’s EP was Disco Dansino - a giant dance party, casino games and yummy food like cinnamon and sugar pretzel bites, cotton candy, fried oreos, popcorn and candy galore! Everyone was SO excited at dinner tonight to get their Disco Dansino shirts which were a huge hit and can be seen in lots of the photos from the evening.
