We have had an AMAZING two days on Old Forge Mountain! It has been SUPER busy, but oh so much fun!! There was no time to stop and write yesterday, so I decided to fill you in with a TWO-FOR update that includes all the best of the last two days. If I had to sum up the past two days in one word it would be FAST! I am amazed at how FAST the days are passing and this session is moving…we are having TOO much fun! Yesterday was a great day! Cabins were super happy to be back to their normal five period schedule day at camp and getting back into the routine! We ended the day with an EPIC Night at the Races EP that was all the buzz of the morning chatter today! We woke up to beautiful blue skies and sunshine this morning, which set the tone for a GREAT DAY TO HAVE A GREAT DAY at CAMP HIGHLANDER today!
Today was our last day full of cabin activities, and during breakfast, I reminded everyone to cherish every moment of cabin bonding. This announcement was met with sighs and boos as we all realized the session is almost over. I can hardly believe it myself, and I’m not ready to say goodbye to these amazing campers. We’ve created so many wonderful memories together, and I am incredibly thankful for every single one.
To me, camp is like one big holiday, a reason to celebrate, to sing and dance and give thanks for the amazing life that we’ve been given at Highlander. So today (I’m not kidding) is National Dimples Day!! For real…a reason to celebrate! As I looked around camp today, from the dining hall to Riverball…I realized how blessed I am to be surrounded by so many dimples! All of these smiles that live on Old Forge this session are blessing me each and every day! Your children…their smiles…their love for this mountain is incredible, and I am overflowing with joy for them and you! Thank you for sharing your favorite dimples with us this session!

Favorite Details of Tuesday
- Reflect: This morning at Reflect, Andrew, our Junior Boys Division Head, talked to us about missing his dog. He shared that most campers probably are missing their dog, their cat, their brother or sister, or mom or dad. That’s one of the gifts of camp…it makes us value the things we often take for granted at home…family, friends, even pets. So while we are having so much fun at camp and missing the ones we love, let’s remember when we get home how we feel now and appreciate the gifts we have in our lives!
- Weather: Another beautiful day on Old Forge…sunshine and blue skies! We are truly blessed!
- Meals: For breakfast we had biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, oatmeal, grits and a fruit bar. For lunch we had philly cheese steaks, kettle chips and a salad and sandwich bar with whole fruit. For dinner we had chicken parmesean, spaghetti with marinara, roasted broccoli, garlic bread, a salad and sandwich bar. After camper’s choice announcements, everyone started the Gus’s chant again…and we all had candy and soda before camper’s choice sign-ups!
- EP: Tonight’s EP was square dance. The weather was great so we were lucky to be dancing our hearts out on the field tonight! There is something about these summer square dancing nights that make you want to stop time! Tonight was simply magical!
