Saturdays are so fun at camp because they are full of our favorite things! After sleeping in late this morning, campers cheered when they walked in the dining hall and saw boxes of Dunkin Donuts waiting on the tables, the first of many happy moments in our day. We love “Sleep-In Saturday,” and both campers and staff were grateful to sleep in until 8:45 AM, enjoying some much-needed rest after a fast-paced and busy week. Skipping Reflect at the Rock and assembly and no cabin inspection (WOO HOO), we dove straight into breakfast and then right into a whirlwind of Camper’s Choice activities that kept us buzzing all day. Saturdays are THE BEST!
Favorite Details of the Day
- Weather: We woke up this morning to a beautiful day. It was a hot sunny day on Old Forge. We welcomed some overcast skies that cooled us down in the afternoon but brought no rain. It was wonderful!
- Meals: For breakfast we had Dunkin Donuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, grits and a fruit bar. For lunch we had copycat chick-fil-a sandwiches, fries and a salad and sandwich bar with whole fruit. For dinner we had spaghetti with meat sauce, roasted broccoli, garlic bread, a salad and sandwich bar. Our dessert tonight was at EP!
- EP: Tonight we enjoyed Session B’s biggest evening program…Monte Carlo.
Saturdays always host our biggest evening program of the session, and tonight’s Monte Carlo was over the top!! The carnival rolled into town, transforming the Gillespie Gymnasium into a vibrant hub of fun and games! The atmosphere was electric as everyone indulged in delicious carnival treats like cheese fries, cinnamon and sugar pretzel bites, cotton candy, popcorn and more. We played exciting games, got our face painted and made unforgettable memories with friends. Though there was great music playing, I was overwhelmed with the laughter, cheers and joyful screams that filled the gym tonight. Your children were having the time of their lives!!! Just outside the gym, was the most popular booth of the night…PIE A COUNSELOR. Campers were lined up fifteen deep waiting to throw a pie in the face of their favorite counselor. I don’t know who loved it more, the campers who got to throw the pie or the counselors who got pie’d. It was so much fun! To end the night, all of camp gathered at the slab for PIE A DIRECTOR. Three camper names were drawn to throw the pies in our faces. Who knew that this small gesture of playing with our campers would bring such joy for all of our camp family! While I was covered in chocolate pudding pie, I realized that this is exactly what I was missing from my day…silly, messy, crazy fun! While everyone laughed as Mac, Spencer and I got pie’d, no one laughed out loud as hard as I did! I love to make your children laugh, but the laughter they bring to each day of camp for me is the most precious gift!
