Today marked the first Camper’s Choice day of the session, and we dove headfirst into fun and adventure! It was a fantastic day filled with awesome activities, lots of laughter, and wonderful memories with our new camp friends. Campers had lots of activities to choose from, ensuring their day was packed with unforgettable memories.

All our traditional camp activities were open, perfect for those who wanted more time at their favorite spots or to work on their Master of the Mills achievements. But the real magic came from our imaginative and enthusiastic cabin counselors, who offered an array of unique, non-traditional activities that had campers buzzing with excitement. From fishing on Silver Lake and reading in the cozy library to making friendship bracelets, pool Zumba, and even weightlifting, the options were as diverse as they were fun and very popular! Today was a perfect blend of classic camp fun and innovative new experiences, a day of memorable choices!

I absolutely love how Camper’s Choice empowers our children to practice decision-making by letting them choose their schedules and plan their day. It also offers them the wonderful opportunity to socialize with campers from different cabins and age groups, fostering a vibrant and inclusive camp community. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing siblings reconnect during this special day—whether they’re shooting hoops together on the basketball court, tackling the ropes course side by side, or whipping up delicious treats in cooking class. These moments of bonding and independence are what make Camper’s Choice such a treasured part of our camp experience.

Favorite Details of the Day

  • Reflect at the Rock: This morning Spencer talked to us about making the most of each day here at camp. Though our schedule stays the same most days, we have the opportunity to embrace the newness and uniqueness of each day! We can make today better than yesterday and live each day to the fullest!
  • Weather: We had another beautiful day on Old Forge! The sun was shining and there was a cool breeze blowing through the Carolina Pines. It was the perfect backdrop for making memories today!
  • Meals: For breakfast we had belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage links, oatmeal, grits and a fruit bar. For lunch we had french dip (roast beef) sandwiches, tater tots and a salad bar with whole fruit. For dinner we had chicken teriyaki with vegetables, white rice and fried rice, vegetable egg rolls and a salad and sandwich bar. Everyone went crazy when the disco ball went off, and tonight we danced the cha-cha slide before we had dessert…ice cream dream! It tastes as good as it sounds!!
  • EP: Tonight’s evening program was Game Night. Cabins participated in various games that they chose at lunch today and competed against other cabins. The games ranged from active to passive games like bingo, musical trivia, Deal or No Deal, Pictionary, charades, Are you Smarter than a Counselor, Cabin Feud, Wheel of Fortune, 20 Questions and Scrabble. Every cabin competed in two different game challenges and everyone had a blast!
