What an incredible day! We’ve had an absolutely fabulous, fun-filled, fantastic time on Old Forge today! Days like today remind me of how amazing camp truly is and how blessed I am to be a part of it. This morning I grabbed a camera and our camp dog, Lovey, and left the office to embrace the beauty. The weather was glorious, blue skies, bright sunshine and the most refreshing breeze sweeping through the trees. It was an amazing day, and if I had the ability to order the weather, I would choose to repeat today’s weather all summer long.

While the weather was perfect, the beautiful things I was seeking was not in nature but in the joy and laughter of your children. Two steps out of the office and I found it…a cabin of young boys heading down to the pool stopped to pet Lovey and tell me about their fantastic morning. The smiles on their faces don’t do justice to the happiness their laughter and sweet stories told me. Each camper was happier than the next, anxious to tell me about what they had done, achievements they had made and the fun they were having at camp…and that was just two steps outside the office! My morning went on that way with each and every cabin I stopped to see. These campers were SO very happy to be at camp, to be doing these fun activities and to be with their new friends.

I am fortunate to witness countless beautiful moments between campers and staff each day, moments that take my breath away. Our counselors selflessly serve their campers in countless ways, always with joyful smiles and patient hearts that inspire me. It’s heartwarming seeing campers comforting their cabin mate who is missing home and needing a friend. And I will never forget when Bryan announced tonight that it was cabin counselor Sophie’s birthday and the dining hall went nuts! Campers from every cabin were cheering, jumping up and down and going crazy for this one birthday…SO MUCH LOVE here at camp, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude! The beautiful moments today are too many to count, and there are so many more to come! Stay tuned!

Favorite Details of the Day

  • Reflect at the Rock: This morning I shared with everyone the ABC’s of teamwork. In order for this session to be the best it can be, each member of the cabin must be intentional about supporting their team.
  • Weather: PERFECT! High of 85 and low of 66. The breeze was incredible, and we couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day!
  • Meals: For breakfast we had french toast sticks, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, grits and a fruit bar. For lunch we had baked ziti, breadsticks, a sandwich bar and a salad bar with whole fruit. For dinner we had greek chicken, grilled vegetables, hummus and pita bread and a salad and sandwich bar.
  • EP: Tonight’s evening program was Cabin Challenge. The theme was Video Games so cabins dressed up in Nintendo or Video Game Character costumes to compete in various challenges against brother or sister cabins. The challenges were musical ice buckets, Pictionary, Limbo Hula Hoop Lasso, Human Wordle, Sponge Relay and more. In the finale, Cabin 29 won in a tie-breaker to claim the EP trophy. It was such a fun night!
