With every new summer, every new session and every new camper we celebrate “firsts.” Today we had our first breakfast of the summer, our first Reflect at the Rock, our first time to raise the flag, our first camp-wide panoramic photo for the summer and many first times at activities for our first ever Kick Off Camp! The excitement and anticipation of all of these events brings great energy and enthusiasm, and that energy is contagious.

I feel blessed to witness the camp experience through the eyes of these little ones who have shown extreme courage to leave home and family in order to experience joy and discover a new home away from home. The joy on their faces is priceless!

• Snack - Apple Cart
• Dinner - Grilled Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Homemade Rolls

If you ask the campers, the highlights of the day would definitely include the sweets…we had popsicles after the panaramic photo because our campers were so well behaved and patient. We also celebrated our owner Karl Alexander’s birthday today with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes after dinner. What a MMMMMonday!!

Tonight’s EP was Mission Impossible. Decked out in dark clothing, our campers were undercover spies trying to find the stolen safe. As the cabins travled around camp, they found clues leading to the safe. Cabin 28 was the first to uncover the clues, find the safe and capture the crook. This EP was a huge success. It was another “first” at Camp Highlander, but it will not be the last!
