Though winter is seemingly overstaying its welcome at Camp Highlander (we have a slight chance for snow this weekend), our year-round staff and maintenance crew have been hard at work this off-season. From some much-needed renovations to exciting new additions, Old Forge Mountain has received quite the makeover! Plus, the first signs of spring are (finally) popping up all over camp, which reminds us that summer is just around the corner! We thought we’d take you on a virtual tour so you can see the changes for yourself!
First up, the summer office! We extended the back porch out several feet making it a much more comfortable place to relax on a warm, sunny afternoon!
And speaking of warm and sunny days … it’s springtime! All over camp the plants are blooming and coming back to life!
But the plants aren’t the only things coming back to Old Forge! The brand new B-52 (aka, whatever name you know it by), is very close to being finished … complete with an (almost) 360-degree wrap-around deck!
And that reminds us of another new arrival! Remember that awesome new horseback riding/mountain biking trail we’ve been telling you about? Well, our all-new fleet of mountain bikes just arrived courtesy of Youngblood Bicycles!
And finally, the senior girls deck (between cabins 1 and 2) is ready for its first campfire this summer! With a massive firepit and benches made of repurposed beams from the old Tenny Top cabins, the only things missing are some happy campers, gooey s’mores and a roaring fire!
That’s all (for now, at least!) We hope you’ve enjoyed a sneak peak at what’s to come in #CH2018! We’ll keep you updated with all of the latest and greatest changes on Old Forge as the summer gets closer!
