Happy New Year! We are very excited about all that 2016 has in store for Camp Highlander campers, staff, alumni and families. For 2016, we are kicking off a weekly Leadership Blog series. Join the leadership team as we notify you of camp news and valuable insight as we count down the days until summer.
With every New Year, comes the excitement of a new summer that is just around the corner! Each new year, we kick off the anticipation for summer with our Camper Reunions in Florida, Louisiana, and Georgia. The leadership team is packing up the van and heading south to sunny South Florida! After the cold weather we’ve had here at camp, we are really excited!
Reunions are a long-standing tradition that started back in the 70’s for the Camp Highlander family. Back before social media and the convenience of cell phones, campers and staff couldn’t wait for the reunions to find out what their cabin mates had been doing all year and who would be coming back the next summer. This tradition has proven that even with the advances in technology, there is nothing quite like reliving those amazing camp memories and inside jokes with your friends. We hope you will join us to reconnect and get pumped up for the summer of 2016.
Today reunions are just as exciting for campers and staff. You will hear all the exciting announcement about the great new additions to camp and the inside scoop on what you can expect for 2016. We have also built in some personal rewards for coming to the reunion. Every camper that attends, new or returning, will receive our Reunion Rewards Card. When you come to camp this summer you will be able to use your rewards card for three different items. The first being able to have “First Choice Sign Up” for a Camper Choice day. After lunch on Tuesday or Friday you will meet with JG to get first chance for all the activities and amazing trips scheduled for that camper choice day. That night at sign ups you can also use your rewards card to get Candy and Soda at Gus’ Place outside the gym. The final way you can use your rewards card is in our camp store. Present your card at the camp store and receive 50% off of one item in the camp store.
You think that’s exciting, just wait for the amazing prizes we will raffle off at the reunions this year. Some lucky campers or staff members will leave with popular Camp Highlander Swag from the Camp Store. Some could win a great cabin prize like Gus’, Dolly’s, a Pizza Party, a Cabin Bowling trip or a Rest Hour Pool Party. This year you have the opportunity to win the best prize of all! You and your cabin could win the royal treatment from The Highlander Leadership Team where we will serve you and your cabin Breakfast in Bed, followed by the white glove service, where we will clean your cabin for that day with a 10 guarantee!
All of these raffles are a lot of fun, but the true joy of the reunions is getting to see all of our Camp Highlander campers and staff. You are Camp Highlander. These reunions are what truly set the summer in motion for us, and we are looking forward to June 5th when the gates open and we see all of your smiling faces.

Louisiana Reunion- January 24th 2-4pm in Baton Rouge at Bocage Racquet Club
Georgia Reunion- February 21st 2-4pm in Atlanta at Midtown Bowl
