Summer camp wouldn’t be summer camp without getting wet each and every day. At Camp Highlander, there are dozens of way to engage in water play. Because safety around water is paramount, we always make it a top priority to bring highly experienced lifeguards to camp to protect all who visit the mountain.
Guardians In and Out of the Water
The lifeguards at Camp Highlander are constantly surveying campers and staff for any safety issues, whether they are in or out of the water. Nixon, head of waterfront and known only by his last name at camp, is in his 21st year in Camp Highlander and has multiple safety certifications, including First Aid, AED/CPR, infant and adult, pool and open water skills, he has spent the last seven summers directing waterfront, and managing five primary lifeguards as well as five secondary lifeguards.
highlander’s administration is very supportive of our purpose @ camp and we love working at camp! one of my favorite things at camp is having taught a camper to swim and then, years later- watching them teach their campers to swim!
