As you know, camp is so much more than just a way to pass the time during the summer. One of the ways we acknowledge the lasting affect of attending Camp Highlander is through our Alumni Spotlight blog. Each month, we feature a Camp Highlander alumni who attributes some of their post-camp success to their time spent on the mountain. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to gain a better understanding of how the experiences at Highlander help shape girls and boys into successful adults.
While Camp Highlander truly is a wonderful place where so many have gained valuable life skills, thousands of camps around the world provide girls and boys with opportunities to learn and grow. In the spirit of recognizing the overall value of camp, The Western Association of Independent Camps and the American Camp Association have designated Saturday, February 1, as “I Heart Camp Day.” This is a special day to recognize the importance of camp and how it can have a positive, life-long affect on campers and staff.
I ask that each of you take a moment to support this important day. Help spread the word about how attending camp has had a positive affect on your life. Post a picture of yourself or with friends holding a sign that reads “I Heart Camp” to as many social media platforms as possible (do not display any branding or logos associated with Camp Highlander). Make sure to use the hashtag #Iheartcampday. You can also send a copy of your pictures or video links to so they can share your love for camp with the world. For more information, visit I Heart Camp Day.
Thanks, everyone. Let’s show our support for camp!
From the mountain,
Karl
